After touring in more than 80 countries, “Van Gogh Alive” has finally arrived on Malaysian shores where it has made its way to Pavilion Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur (KL).
The exhibition, created and produced by Grande Experiences and co-produced by KKLive and Gravitytai Co Ltd, will be in KL from now till March 16, 2023. The ticketed show is co-organised by FrameMotion Studio Sdn Bhd and Meta Doers World Holding Bhd (MDW) in Malaysia.
The aim of this exhibition is to change the perception on how the public understands and engage with art by installing floor-to-ceiling projections of the dramatic brushstrokes of the post-impressionist and bright colours that unfold the history of the artist’s past. It also aims to attract both local and foreign tourists to KL, which in turn will boost the country’s tourism sector.
The sponsors for “Van Gogh Alive” include premium automobile and motorcycle manufacturer BMW, which is also presenting its latest technology, while Panasonic Malaysia is contributing its projection mapping and mist dispersal innovations to create an interactive and immersive experience for visitors.
MDW CMO Ken Khoo Chee believes that this exhibition is meant to fit the trends for education, which is to be immersive and interactive. Therefore, he encourages people to bring their whole family, as children will understand Van Gogh through an immersive experience.
“We will have special rates for these kids and for those below six years olds, admission is free. So, definitely, we will encourage parents to bring kids to enjoy ‘Van Gogh Alive’,” he told the media recently.
Housed in a specially designed and constructed immersive gallery, the exhibition spans about 20,000 sq ft and Khoo hopes that visitors will take their time to go through it.
